Alexa Bliss Discusses Dealing with Anorexia, Working with Anti-Social Issues in WWE

Published

WWE superstar Alexa Bliss is one of the top female performers in the company, but was been sidelined from Evolution due to a concussion.

Bliss, recently took part in an interview with former WWE ring announcer Lillian Garcia for her podcast “Chasing Glory”, which airs on E’s ‘Total Divas’ show, and discussed a number of topics including anorexia and working in WWE while dealing with anti-social issues.

“It has been incredible” Bliss said when discussing having a platform to help others deal with issues such as anorexia. “Actually, there was a situation at a recent Comic-Con where this little girl came up to me and I felt like it has given people the comfort to speak out. I feel like–I know I talk about it all of the time. Body issues, online bullying, it is a thing. People go through it. I am sure that people are sick of talking about it at this point but I am going to keep talking about it.”

Bliss went into detail about the meeting at Comic-Con.

“There was this girl that came up to me where I was doing this signing and this girl comes up and she says whether or not she has any advice for her because she is having trouble eating. She said that I am dealing with anorexia, and I gave her some advice about I know it is hard and tough but you have to eat.

You have to, which is really the worst thing you can tell someone with an eating disorder which is to eat, but I said that I know it is scary but if you take that first step it gets easier and you have to treat your body as a temple because you only have one of them. You need to help yourself. Nobody is going to be able to help you until you want to help yourself, and then the girl walks away and my best friend, Erin comes up to me and tells me that she really needs to go talk to her.

I said to her to go talk to her and then Erin chases her down and she tells the little girl that she was best friends with Alexa [Bliss] when she was going through what she was going through and they exchanged Instagrams and told her that if you ever need any motivation or inspiration or anyone to talk to I am here to listen. That is what is so great about Erin as well where she can be that voice as well that I can’t be in that moment. I feel like she can give another perspective because it doesn’t just affect one person it affects a lot of people.”

Bliss also talked about her social anxiety issues.

“If I am with one person I am very talkative, and personable. I will talk your ear off, but if there is another person interjected I get so awkward. I am like the awkward one in those situations, but I feel like a lot of creative people are. I feel like a lot of creative people are socially awkward. I always had friends over. I always had one friend over. The one thing that was nice about being an only child is that my friends’ parents would always ask me whether I would want any other brothers and sisters? My mom wasn’t able to have anymore children and they didn’t know that, but I would always say that I can have friends over and whenever I get sick of them I can just send them home.”

Nyla Rose

All Elite Wrestling has already impressed with their ‘Double or Nothing’ event last month in Las Vegas, and their roster of professional wrestlers continue to make headlines with their matches, and the work they do on social media as well.

One AEW wrestler who is receiving the spotlight is Nyla Rose, the promotion’s first transgender wrestler, who is discussing her journey to AEW and her future.

“As much negativity that I do see, I do see much more love and acceptance,” Rose said, during an interview with Sports Illustrated. “It’s just that sadly negative things seem to get highlighted more than positive things.”

She continued, “”If I can bear the weight, if I can hold up all the hatred and everything and carry that on my back, I know that I’m strong enough to do it, If the people out there need to beat me up and I need to absorb that so that the next generation, the youth, can have an easier time, I gladly welcome that.”

“I’m really hoping to set the tone and set the pace and create that environment that’s going to fuel the next generation” Rose commented “Not just trans people, but inspire anybody to say, ‘Hey, these women lit that on fire. I want to be that. I want to do that.’”

“AEW has felt that I am worthy of a chance. All I can ask is that some of the people out there, the fans who might be a little bit tight-minded, just give me a chance to show you what I can do in the ring. That’s all.”

NXT’s Adam Cole Discusses Creative Freedom

Published

NXT Champion Adam Cole is at the height of his success with the promotion, recently defeating Johnny Gargano in another instant classic to capture his first NXT Championship, and he is talking about how things go down in NXT.

Unlike much of the main roster, where promos are often scripted and comedy-acts are more common, Cole says that superstars in NXT get a bit more creative freedom, as he had with Gargano for their match.

“One of the coolest things about NXT is we have a ton of creative liberties to come up with the story and the vision we have for the match” Cole said, during an interview with TalkSport. “Of course, there’s input and advice given and there’s suggestions or, you know ‘we need something this way’ (but) we do have a lot of freedom, which is great.”

Cole added that he and Gargano came up with the format for their two out of three falls classic at NXT Takeover: New York.
