CM Punk is closing in on returning to the ring following a torn triceps injury that he suffered during he 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match as the final elimination for Cody Rhodes, and could potentially be in the ring at Summerslam.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Punk has been aggressively rehabbing from the injury and there is some hope that if he continues to recover at an impressive rate he could make his return to the ring ahead of schedule.
“Punk’s not that far from being back, most likely. If he had his surgery at the end of January, you’re looking at the end of July, August, maybe September [for a return]. It’s not that far away anymore. He might make SummerSlam…. and if he can make SummerSlam, Punk and Drew [McIntyre] for the [WWE Heavyweight] title. That makes a lot of sense. Even if he can’t, you can do it a month after. Punk will be back fairly soon…it’s not as far away as sometimes you think because of that surgery.”
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been fueling their feud for several months, including an epic moment at WrestleMania 40 that saw Punk physically attack the trash-talking McIntyre. This helped Damian Priest, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract moments following Punk’s attack, pin McIntyre for the Heavyweight title McIntyre had defeated Seth Rollins for several minutes prior.
