WWE has purchased the rights to the World Wrestling Council’s videotape library, officially finalizing the deal last month, according to a report from PW Insider.
WWC was created back in 1973 by Carlos Colon Sr, Victor Jovica, and Gorilla Monsoon and is where Carlos Colon made his name, winning the WWC Universal Championship 26 different times, and held it for over a combined 3,000 days.
WWC is where Bruiser Brody was killed in 1988 when Brody was stabbed in the showers by Jose Huertas Gonzalez, known as Invader #1 in the ring, who claimed self-defense and was acquitted of murder charges.
Abdullah the Butcher, Eddie Colon, Greg Valentine, Scott Hall, Dory Funk Jr., Sabu, and Dory Funk are some of the other notable names that have wrestled for the promotion throughout the years.
Additionally, WWE superstars Primo and Epico still make appearances for the promotion despite being current WWE superstars.
