There is more coming out in the wake of the backstage fight that followed CM Punk’s media scrum after All-Out that involved Punk, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Ace Steel, and many within AEW think Punk should be fired.
According to reports, Omega “stormed into” CM Punk’s locker room following the comments, and things broke down from there.
According to Fightful Select, there are some in AEW that believe Punk needs to be fired for his actions.
“Almost unanimously, the talent that we’ve spoken to haven’t been in favor of the way CM Punk handled things at all that evening. Even talent that typically would back Punk up either said that’s not what they would have done, or haven’t commented to us.”
Sean Ross Sapp also mentioned that “several AEW talent have told us they don’t know how Punk couldn’t be let go after how things went.”
According to Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN.com : “Sources: Sides are being taken in the CM Punk/Elite altercation. Some feel that IF punishment/s comes of this, EVP titles from the talent should be removed because as one said the EVPs should be setting the example for talent. Some also feel Punk should be fired for his actions.””
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com discussed the situation and Meltzer said: “Nobody’s allowed to talk or wants to talk because there’s pending legal issues based on what happened. It is not a work at all, and you don’t have legal issues and police officers run in there [if it’s a work]. It’s not a work.”
“There’s a lot of legal situations involved, and it can be very messy, and I think that’s one of the reasons why no-one in AEW is allowed to talk about it. From a company standpoint, obviously no-one is talking, but they’re gonna have to at some point.” (quotes courtesy of WrestleTalk.com).
Alvarez went on to say that at least one punch was thrown, and that neither side have disputed that Ace Steel allegedly threw a chair at Nick Jackson which was said to hit Nick in the eye and “pulled at Kenny Omega’s hair and bit him.”
“The disagreement between the two sides is that the one side claims that CM Punk threw the punch first – the Young Bucks walked in and he started punching. The other side claims that the Young Bucks stormed in and were the aggressors and that Punk and Ace were defending themselves.”
